Lifetime Pension

As it says, this is a pension payable for your lifetime (and possibly for your spouse's lifetime). The SIS conditions for this type of pension are very strict, because this type of pension (and only this type or the life expectancy type) allows you to access the pension RBL.

The main conditions are as follows:

  • The pension payments each year must at least increase in line with CPI.

  • The pension payments must be reasonably certain - they must continue until you die, at which time they may continue to your spouse at a rate no more than what you received. You cannot reduce or terminate the pension payments except in limited circumstances.
